Foreign birds detained at Katunayake Airport

The Katunayake Airport has detained a consignment of foreign birds that was brought to the country,
violating regulations of the wild life act.
The Animal Quarantine Unit at the airport said the foreign birds were detained on instructions received by the Bio-diversity Unit.

It is reported that a Sri Lankan brought these birds from Thailand.

Investigations have commenced into the incident with the intervention of the Bio-diversity Unit.
